Abstract

Purpose of the short SYSTAG Thermo-Analysis Handbook:
Today’s Calorimetry offers a confusing variety of instruments that even experts are faced with difficulties; even more so a newly appointed safety expert, responsible for a company and in need of coming to terms with the equipment.

This short reference book tries to provide certain support, but does not claim in any way completeness.  The variety of applications and required special experience is too vast for us to claim possessing this knowledge.  The short reference handbook is meant to help the reader in obtaining an systematic view in order to better identify is own requirements.

A Comparison of DSC and RADEX for the Investigation of Safety Parameters for Inhomogeneous Systems (nur in Englisch)

Reliable data on the decomposition of inhomogeneous reaction masses can be difficult to obtain.

Sampling can be a particular problem when carrying out small scale work and can lead to a wide variation in results, such variation could have potentially hazardous implications for process operations.

This paper highlights some of the advantages and disadvantages that can occur when using Differential Scanning Calorimetry and provides a comparison with an alternative experimental method using a RADEX.
