This report demonstrates the reaction process using mid-FTIR of an alcoholysis of acetic Anhydride and Methanol using Sulphuric acid as a catalyst.

The recorded course of events shows that secondary reactions still take place for some time, even if the thermal energy is apparently no longer of significant relevance.

This demonstrates very clearly the synergy between calorimetric and spectroscopic analyses.  Spectroscopy has the major advantage of being able to provide online results which could otherwise only be performed with a non-isothermal calorimeter.
