Reaction Calorimetry
for investigation of the calorimetric properties of the desired chemical reactions

Thermal Analysis
for investigation of the calorimetric properties of undesired chemical reactions (decomposition) or stability studies of starting material or products

The whole of chemical process safety includes not only the investigation of desired and planned reaction but the detailed knowledge about undesired and unplanned decomposition or side reactions.

Only the combination of both investigations results will give a holistic view about process safety especially regarding runaway  scenario

Comparison of the two methods
Calo2310 - Reaction Calorimetry

The reaction calorimeter of the 2310 model series supports the chemist in carrying out the necessary experimental work to calculate thermal output of a reaction, accumulation of starting material or the Maximal Temperature of Synthesis Reaction (MTSR)

FlexyTSC - Thermal Analysis

The Thermal Safety Calorimeter is especially well suited to investigate a wide variety of substances either solids, liquids or inhomogeneous mixtures for their thermal stability and their thermal potential. Data of important characteristics like TMR (Time to Maximum Rate), Arrhenius-Plot or required activation energy allow a complete assessment about the safety of a production process.
